I have been teaching SOR at Queen of the Holy Rosary for over 15 years and my family have been members of the parish since we moved from California over 20 years ago.
I am originally from Topeka and graduated from SM West and K-State. I work as an accountant for a Grain company in Kansas City.
Over the years I have mostly been the Kindergarten catechist, but am excited to continue on with my class to First Grade this year.
First Grade will meet in class, once a month on the following Sundays:
October 4 10:00am - 10:45am
November 1 10:00am - 10:45am
December 6 10:00am - 10:45am
Please adhere to our safety precautions and drop-off rules if you choose to attend in person classes. All students and catechists must wear a mask while inside the school building.
For weeks we do not meet in class, lessons will be posted on our Google Classroom page. If you are registered, but have not received your Google Classroom code or invite by October 1, please let us know.
Lesson plans for in class weeks will also be posted on Google Classroom if you choose to stay Remote or are not able to attend our in class session.
Grade level Expectations
These prayers help provide us with a glimpse into the foundations of our Faith and a base from which our children can learn how to live their Faith.
In our religious education classes, we begin and end with a prayer. We ask that Parents help teach these prayers and lists to your children. Praying regularly at home will help them to master the required prayers for use in their lifetime. The Archdiocese offers guidelines of prayers to be learned at each grade level.
In First grade one prayer will be focused on each month. October will be Hail Mary and the sign of the cross.
Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Glory be to the Father, and to the son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art though among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen
Guardian Angel Prayer
Angel of God, my guardian dear, To whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day be at my side, To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen
In addition to our Alive in Christ textbook, these are some of the other learning tools we will be using this year.
